The Pond
Torbay and District Model Boat Club

The pond above is the pond that we use. It is at Youngs Park, Goodrington. It is a large pond suitable for all types of boats. We can use yachts with keels of about 2 feet. Very near to the pond is Goodrington Beach and there is a water attraction just across the road called Quaywest with lots of different slides. Also there is a Go-Kart track and a few trampolines and some fair rides all year round. You can hire out pedal boats and go on speed boat rides or get the speed boat to pull you around on rings in the bay.

The park is a brilliant place for sailing scale electric which is the clubs most popular type of boat to be used in the pond. It is also good for sailing small keeled yachts but the pond is not deep enough to take deep keeled yachts. We also have steam boats which look great in the water when going. On the odd occasion some of the club members bring along some fast boats just to have some fun with. For details of some of our boats in the club look at the Gallery link.

You can also have an early morning breakfast in the nearby cafe or just a drink or a snack. The toilets are only about 100m from the pond and there is lots of wildlife too.
